Here’s what our students have to say about our online workshops.

I LOVE your online classes! I’m a photographer and I have never painted or drawn in my life. I couldn’t find any encaustic workshops that fit my work schedule so I bought all the books on the subject and began to “play.” Although learning to paint first would be smart :) I’ve done very little in life in the order I was supposed to...After a few sessions of teaching myself, I took a workshop. A year later I took another. Both artists were nice and both were quite artistic but the “open studio” with very little teaching wasn’t so good for me. I pretty much continued to make the same mistakes I’d been making on my own. Wow, did your workshops change that! Not only are you an artist, but you are a GREAT teacher! Thanks! My art is still playing but I so enjoy my days in my encaustic studio /bedroom! Thanks again!

I live out in the country and having the option of these online classes has been wonderful. I’m so glad that I found you. I am a glass artist but have long been fascinated with encaustic as my father was a beekeeper so the smell alone brings back some wonderful memories. Imagery and texture are really important to me and your class has been just what I was hoping it would be. Spent the whole day in my studio playing with different transfer methods and having a great time. I’m sure I will have some questions but so far everything has worked well as explained.

Although I have been working in encaustic for four years now, I decided to sign up for your online class. I am on lesson 8 of Controlling Encaustic Paint and I love it. Great job!

Nancy (USA)

I just finished the Encaustic Collage workshop and LOVED it. I am very new to encaustic. I wanted to find a mixed media idea to incorporate some of my photography and I think this might be it! Your workshop is well organized, clear and easy to follow. Thanks so much for a great learning tool.

Thank you so much for these classes! I have learned so much more than in either of the one-day workshops I have recently taken here in my area. After the workshops I set up a space and spent 2 weekends playing with wax only to be totally frustrated and ending up scraping off all the layers of every piece I started (although now I’m really good at scraping off all the layers!). You are so clear in explaining “how and why” and I have so much more understanding of the process. I see now where I was going wrong in layering on way too much paint and also over fusing. I can’t wait to take your image transfer class next. Thanks again, you’re a great teacher!

I am so enjoying my first class and look forward to taking all of your online classes. I am so grateful that there is something like this online. It is sometimes impossible to travel to take your workshops. Thank you so much for this great service. Cheers!

Rosalie (Canada)

I love, love, love this technique and videos! Linda, you should be so proud of yourself, as I can’t think of one question to ask you as they were all answered in your videos & instructions.
Thank you for another great class!

Kay (USA)

I have been working with encaustic for a year now and am still learning. Love your videos, very clear and easy to understand. Great class again. I hate coming to the end. Thank you!!

Anna (Canada)

Hurrah! Great demo, I thought the only way to do this was the "match" method in the garden in a full safety suit! haven't got my delivery of Shellac yet but CAN NOT WAIT!!!! ;) Thank you Miss Womack! (This refers to the Encaustic with a Crackle Finish class)

Niamh (Ireland)

I not only enjoy the way you fully describe these excellent techniques but you raise any possible hazards of the materials you use. Keep those tips coming. Cheers!

Doc (Australia)

Wooo hooo - signed up for the encaustic class! I think you've done a fantastic job with the lessons and videography. It's nice to be able to see things in 'real time', step by step, which is often not possible with books - and I have read your book by the way, and thought it very useful. Your personality comes shining thru on each video, and shows how much fun you're having doing this.

Sue (New Zealand)

I just watched all episodes of your Encaustic with a Crackle Finish class. Like the first class I took, you did a spectacular job of producing these videos. It is the next best thing to taking a live class with you. Highly recommended!

Thea (Canada)

Thanks for all the classes! You've totally refreshed my approach and upped how I organize my materials to work WAY better.

Diane (USA)

I love how you take us through every step and hold our virtual hands along the way. I've done some workshops where the artist doesn't talk much & it's frustrating. I know there are things we do as artists without thinking about it, especially if we're done the process many times.....but you seem to have great clarity on sharing information, not forgetting you're talking to novices and I love/appreciate that.

I own more than one encaustic video…. and I can tell you a lot about how each person looks etc, but it is always more about them than the surface of the wax. Thank you for focusing on that….its the heart of the art. I have been lucky to take a class from you in person, but the videos do a couple of things: I always have the best view! and I can type out a question when it occurs to me, usually after I’ve tried something and it hasn’t worked, instead of waiting till the right time in a class. I would never give up live classes, but this format is great. In my opinion, you do the best teaching demos. All your care and attention to detail is worth every moment. Thank You!

Susan (USA)

I find your videos so helpful and informative; and your teaching style is so clear and concise — what a great format for learning! Just wanted to say ‘thanks so much’ for offering these workshops online and affordably; it provides a wonderful opportunity and convenience for those of us who enjoy learning at home.

Rebecca

What a great class! Having taken your class in person, I still found this format to be really helpful. It's just a really great "deal" and awesome for people who can't make it to Portland to experience wonderful you in person.

Cinnamon (USA)

I just wanted to thank you for wonderful tutorials and information. I have so enjoyed the videos and think that you and your team have done a spectacular job at filming and narration. I can't wait for the crackle finish program! Again....HUGE thanks. A stellar workshop!!

JoHanna

Thank you for this workshop, Linda, and for making it available online. Much as I'd love to be able to attend your workshops in person, sometimes it just isn't possible so this is a lovely substitute. Well done!

JB

These videos are really working for me! Not only the techniques but finding out that some of my supplies need reworking. Thanks for clear instructions AND for teaching so we can learn from home.

Diane (USA)

The videos are great! The quality, the lighting, the camera angles. Everything is so easily visible, down to the textures of the clear wax itself. Thanks for this online class!
