Our classes are ready whenever you are. You can begin any class you register for immediately–no waiting for a class to begin! What’s more, you have access to all the videos, class notes and community chat for six full months from your day of registration. Your instructor will answer questions online during the first seven days of every month, and you’ll be able to discuss your projects with other students in your class during the entire length of the class.
For more information on how the classes work, see our How Does It Work? page.
(All levels welcome) No painting or drawing experience is necessary, but even those with some experience will benefit from the tips, tricks and resources shared in this class. You'll be amazed at how simple it is to collage with wax instead of glue to incorporate papers, text, photographs and dried plants. We'll fuse with a heat gun and an iron and learn how to pair the right papers with the right fusing tools for your project.

(All levels welcome) Tame your paint! Even if you have experience with encaustic you'll benefit from being able to really control your paint. Learn how to apply wax for a smooth finish, but also how to add texture where you want it. We'll use brush techniques to build up some sections and specialty tools to remove others, plus I'll show you how you can break (or at least bend) the “fuse-every-layer” rule.

(Intermediate level class) Transferring photographs and drawings onto wax is quick and easy, and gives a beautifully rustic effect. I’ll show you several methods of making photo-based transfers and how to transfer drawings and tracings directly onto your wax with some of my favorite materials including graphite, pastels and colored transfer papers.

(Intermediate level class) The crackle finish is a shellac-based resist that you paint onto warm wax then super heat until it cracks, leaving an elegant organic finish that would be impossible to paint by hand. This finish requires the use of a propane torch so if you aren't familiar with how to use one you'll learn that too.

I think you’ve done a fantastic job with the lessons and videography. It’s nice to be able to see things in ‘real time’, step by step, which is often not possible with books – and I have read your book by the way, and thought it very useful. Your personality comes shining thru on each video, and shows how much fun you’re having doing this.
