Encaustic Painting & Texture

Encaustic is one of the oldest forms of painting, with paint made from pure pigment mixed with beeswax and resin. The mixture is applied hot, and then reheated to fuse the layers together. It's one of the most forgiving mediums available, allowing you to "undo" virtually anything, giving you the freedom to be fearless and let your creativity flow. All levels welcome.
$69 for the full class. Individual lessons start at just $5.

Encaustic & Collage

When you make a collage using glue it's pretty tough to fix a mistake since you are often literally stuck with it. Working with encaustic and collage is a whole different story. You can collage with wax instead of glue to incorporate photographs and dried plants plus a variety papers into your paintings. All Levels Welcome.
$49 for the full class. Individual lessons start at just $5.

Encaustic & Stencils

Using stencils offer simple ways to quickly develop striking forms in your encaustic paintings. I'll demonstrate several techniques including painting, spraying and rubbing different media through stencils to add lines, shapes and imagery to your work. All levels welcome.
$39 for the full class. Individual lessons start at just $5.

Wax Transfers: Photos, Drawings & Rubbings

Transferring images and drawings onto wax gives crisp magical look or a beautifully rustic effect depending on a few simple choices. I'll also show you how to transfer drawings and tracings directly onto your wax with some of my favorite materials including graphite, pastels and colored transfer papers. Intermediate level class.
$79 for the full class. Individual lessons start at just $5.

Encaustic & Shellac

Shellac can be painted onto wax then super heated until it cracks, leaving an elegant organic finish that would be impossible to paint by hand. This requires the use of a torch so if you aren't familiar with how to use one you'll learn that too, while I emphasize both creativity and safety. You'll learn several methods for using shellac and also how to make your own custom colors at home. Intermediate level class.
$49 for the full class. Individual lessons start at just $5.
